T&T: Propeller considerations

Fully reversible propellers do not have the same efficiency as our "normal"
props. It's a compromise. That said, I wish I had it on my boat. I had a
"Hundested" fully manually adjustable prop on my fishing trawler in Greenland
and what a marble of simplicity it was, just as Arild said. Leaving the
throttle at fairly high RPM it was a breeze to maneuver the boat.
One aspect I have not seen here is the transmission savings. No reversing gear
needed. Just a reduction gear. So no damperplates to change ever so often. Yes
on the newer props the props themselves have maintenance to be done. I never
did anything to mine in the 3 years I had the boat.
