Subj: Re: T&T: Fuel Manifolds:returns
I have 8 fuel tanks 2 200 gal saddle tanks, and 6 100 gallon aux tanks. I
have 4 manifolds and 2 fuel transfer pumps. (Plus 2 fuel prime pumps). The
tanks run 2 detroits and 2 westerbeke gen sets. I can run out of any tank and
return to any tank. Normally I run out of the 2 saddle tanks and refill the
saddle tanks from one of the aux tanks after stopping for the day. If I forget
to transfer and need to, I start running out of an aux tank and return to the
saddle tanks. I monitor the fuel level in the aux and then switch over to the
saddle tanks before I empty the aux tank. Detroits return 2 or 3 times the
amount of fuel they use so it doesn't take long. My boat is always trying to
list to the stbd so I normally transfer fuel from one side of the boat to the
other to level the boat. I only have to do this once after filling the tanks
because the fuel burn is about the same between the 2 engines.
Each engine/generator has 2 manifolds. One manifold for fuel feed and one
for fuel return. each maniflold also has a Crossover valve that allows pumping
or pulling fuel from one side of the boat to the other. (or returning fuel to
the opposite side of the boat.) I'm not sure how clearly I have explained
this but if anybody wants more information let me know.

Unfortunately no. Each engine, including the genset is hard plumbed into
it's tank. Port engine to port tank, stbd engine and genset into stbd tank.
At least that's how my Albin is and I'm sure I understood the Celestial is
the same way.
