This may not directly address your problem, but it is a Good Idea to
fill the new fuel or lube oil filters with the appropriate fluid
before installing them (if the filter design and mounting location permit).
If you do this, you will have much less priming to do, and in the case
of the lube oil filter, will not be running the engine without
lubrication while the filter fills.
