T&T: Trawler sales off by 40%

I agree. You look at luxury homes(over a million) and they are on the rise.
Meanwhile, "average" home sales are plummetting. What does all this mean???
The rich are getting richer and the average Joe has less and less money.

There is an anchorage near us and near most marinas that has become quite
popular. People basically just put outta the marina and over to this
anchorage and drop the anchor...very low fuel consumption and still a fun day
on the water.

Trawler on,
John

I guess it's time to admit that high fuel prices have tipped the economy
into
a different mode. Although Showboats International magazine, a glossy
advertising tract for luxury boats, reports that sales are booming for
yachts

bigger than 100 feet, Soundings Trade Only confirms the fact that sales have
collapsed for trawlers in the range that most of us own and that the market is
swamped with used boats. The sales of RVs have collapsed as well. Winnebago
reports
a 67% decline in profits this year. Sales of large SUVs are down over 60%.
The Ford 150 pickup is no longer the most popular vehicle in the country and
GM

has closed several truck plants. The Hummer Division is for sale but no one
wants to buy it. New Prius cars have a 10 to 20 week wait list and used Prius
cars are selling for a premium above the price of a new one.

It's more than just boats and cars. Heating oil in the Northeast is now
above
$4 a gallon and the price of a cord of firewood has doubled in the last year.
But Vermont Castings wood burning stoves are selling quite well.

Our boating plans for the summer have changed substantially. We have
scratched several planned long trips and now intend to go out on the water
and
just
drift with the tide. Messing around in boats is still just as much fun, even
if

you don't go anywhere.
