If you are posting on a new and different topic, it is good practice
to post your message as a new message, rather than as a reply to an
existing unrelated thread.
Re the caulking - I suspect that you will get black streaks wherever
water runs down the cabin side, regardless of the colour of your
caulking.
I think I've had good results with Life-Caulk (provided I put it where
the leak actually is :-) )
I prefer Life-Caulk or other none-silicone sealants, as once you have
used a silicone sealant, you cannot use anything else in the same
place (perhaps even more silicone sealant. )
