T&T: "the best" AC system?

Chilled water systems are usually for larger boats, 80 and up. teh
compressors are in the ER and send chilled water to air handlers thruout the
boat.
an alternative is to use remote split systems where you have the compressors
in the ER and send the freon to air handlers in the living quarters. It
cost a little more than compact units but the loudest components
(compressors) are in the ER, not under your bed.... :-) Running the two
copper lines to the air handlers is no worst than running the water line and
it keeps all the water lines inside the ER where it belongs. no pumps, sea
cocks, strainer, discharges outside the ER.
as to capacity, i doubt you will get away with just one 18k BTU on a 42
footer. teh saloon in my 53 isn't that big (narrowish beam and wide side
decks) and it takes 2x16k units to cool it in summer.
