There was quite a bit of discussion on this topic on the Trawlers and 
Trawlering web forum.  I would recommend joining that forum and searching 
for old message threads that relate to your question.

There are dozens or maybe hundreds of makes and models of 40' trawlers out 
there. Prices range from a beat up old Taiwan Tub at $50K to a brand new 
Nordhavn 43 at $750K or so. No one can tell you what boat fits your needs. 
You need to surf the net and get out and kick the tires.

And FWIW very few if any newbies head out to Bermuda. I suspect that fewer 
than 1 out of 10,000 trawler owners make that trip. So be careful of what 
you ask for in your trawler. There are only about 2-3 makes that I would 
take that trip in.
