I would go ahead and replace that other hose. You say the system is 17 years
old, so it sure could be the cluplrit. I have seen one instance where the
vacuum tank itself went bad, but it was because it was too close to the
exaust on a genset and just got and warped where it leaked at the gasket on
the vacuum switch on the end. I'm sure the gasket could deteriorate on it's
own. You're on the right track. Get that hose replaced and try the isolation
thing again. You should be able to get it sealed where there is no cycling
at all.
