T&T: compact washer reccomendation needed

The never ending replacment of equipment has gone domestic.  The Maytag washer
embedded in the foward stateroom has suffered a major failure and the parts to
repair approach the cost of replacment.
Limiting factor is a doorway  @ 22.5
inches.  Acutal installation area is 24 x 24.  The right size unit could be
disassembled to get through the door so......... what works and what should be
avoided.  
PS. The dryer is still working but sure to go soon, so don't
require a combination unit.
