I have also been accused of being "overpumped" and probably deservedly so. Got
multiple oversized anchors to. The biggest improvement in my bilge pump system
was the addition of a Jabsco diaphram pump and a Water Witch controll switch
for it, along with the Water Witch cycle counter. I think the pump has 1 inch
npt inlet and outlets, it's a fairly large (and expensive, as bilge pumps go)
unit. It pulls thru a 1 inch Perko water strainer (the pump is mounted high
and dry) and the pickup is in the lowest point of the boat, in a small sump
that I bored into the keel and fiberglassed. My bilge stays ABSOLUTELY dry. No
pump water run back and no water sloshing around that the pump cant pick up.
BTW, Water Witch is by far the best stuff.
