T&T: Cell phone amplifiers

A search of google under: FCC "cellular amplifier" enforcement, I find
no references.

These amplifiers come under part 15, which requires that the units not
interfere with any licensed operation. A legal unit must be type
accepted under the part 15 and have a sticker.

Interference caused by a part 15 device must be taken care of by the
owner of the radiating equipment. Many common consumer electronic
devices radiate and are covered under part 15. If the FCC receives a
complaint they are bound to investigate.

They will generally send a written notice to the owner of the property
where the interference is coming from and ask for an explanation. Fines,
confiscation of equipment or jail time are generally only meted out for
repetitive violations, lack of cooperation or deliberate acts. FCC
policy for part 15 problems is to seek cooperation.

Without copies of the FCC records, which are public, I would not get
excited about this.

Mike
