T&T: Perkins 6.3544 NA Problem(s)

Engine starts easily but produces huge amount, mostly blue smoke when
starting.  Very slight fuel slick on startup .  All symptoms disappear when
engine warms up.  HOWEVER, oil level on dipstick increasing.  No evidence of
coolant in oil and while it doesn't smell of diesel fuel, I'm not sure if
there is any in the oil.

About 2 years ago I replaced the manual fuel lift pump.  At that time the
symptoms were large quantities of slick on the water which did not stop when
engine warmed up.  Could the CAV injection pump be causing this new problem or
is it likely the manual lift pump again or??
