T&T: installing fuel drains

I wanted to check for water and fuel tank condition so yesterday I installed
brass ball valves in the fuel tanks. I did not have fuel drains in my 18 yr
old diesel tanks, just threaded plugs.

Plugged the fuel vents with duct tape, put a shop vac in the fill port and
taped around the hole. Loostened the old plug then turned on the vacuum.

Worked like a champ....virtually no fuel lost from either tank using this
method. There is a nice gurgling sound created by the vacuum as you thread in
the new valve.

Just thought I'd pass it on to T&Ters! It's a bit scarry taking out a tank
plug when you have 200 gallons of diesel behind it! but it worked!
