We went that route last year while prepping for a 7 week cruise along
the BC Inside Passage. I mounted a Jabsco 115 VAC pump (model
12210-0001) on a piece of Starboard then attached a piece of stiff hose
with a strainer on the end to the inlet side of the pump. A short piece
of garden hose with sprayer nozzle went to the outlet end.
When we needed it while hoisting the anchor, we'd hang the starboard
with the motor over the side of the rail, drop the hose into the water
and plug the pump into the AC outlet at the lower helm. Not elegant but
it worked pretty well and we were glad to have it.
I was surprised at how loud the pump was. In anchorages, the pump would
make more noise than our idling diesel engine.
