T&T: auto pilots- Heavy trawler 60 tons 18 meters

Anyone out there with experience installing a Raymarine or other brand
autopilot on a heavy full displacement  trawler with existing main
engine
driven full time hydraulic steering?

know a lot more about the system than I understand, so any advice or
input any
of the listees have would be appreciated , on or off list.

   
  Normally you would use a separate hydraulic pump that the auto pilot controls. This would be fitted with valves at on near the pump to close it off from the main hydraulic lines if need be. Give what ever autopilot manufacture you are going to use the details about you boat, size, displacement, type, size of rams, etc. and they should be able to supply you with the pump you will need.
