T&T: Compass - required equipment?

Dumb, but no, a compass isn't required. You can check the Vessel Safety
Check form out here: http://forms.cgaux.org/archive/a7012.pdf. Note that the
required items are on the left side, and the recommended discussion items
are on the right. It also appears that the Feds don't require a bell on
smaller boats now, but a lot of states still do. It's always good to check
the states' requirements where you'll be traveling. I think Canada even
requires a fire axe on board!
