T&T: Fuel in the Bahamas

I had an interesting conversation last evening with a friend who had just
crossed from Gun Cay, Bahamas to the States after a several months cruise of
the Exumas and points further south, going as far the Dominican Republic.
His experiences regarding fuel on the way home were interesting. Staniel
Cay was out of diesel. He bought diesel fuel at Sampson Cay @ $6.56/gal.

>From there they crossed to Fresh Creek, Andros where fuel was only available
via truck from Morgans Bluff, with the truck only coming for a minimum
purchase of 600 gal.

He also heard that the new zillion dollar marina at Chub Cay is having
markedly reduced traffic, with the big sportsfisherman owners, if not
particularly worried about cost, concerned as to whether any would be
available and whether they might be caught there with empty tanks.

Word was that the mailboats were behind schedule because "Nassau was out of
fuel".

Not good news, though is there any these days?
