BBX in the PNW recommends placing the WiFi antenna so that it is clear of
such things as wet canvas.  That would indicate you'll see more loss as a
result of trying to look thru an obstruction than having a few tenths of DB
of loss caused by longer coax.  This would be especially true if there are
no extra connectors in the system.
