T&T: WIfI yet again

At the suggestion of several listees, I've purchased an Engenious USB 
EUB-362 EXT which has a little rubber ducky antenna mounted on an RP-SMA 
plug. I have an omnidirectional antenna I used with my old Orinoco Gold card 
which has an N-type connection. I intend to install the wifi unit in the FB 
"eyebrow" next to my nav computer. I need to purchase an RP-SMA to N adapter 
cable and here's my question for the list.

Would I get a better signal by installing the external antenna on top of my 
Bimini with a 10' cord or mounting on the side of the FB with a 2' cord?
