Dan,
We currently have two boats with the Wallas, and owned another for 4 years.
We have had no problems with them. The best information is on the C Brat
site: http://www.c-brats.com/ They do best using "kleen heat" but diesel does
work well. The key is to have enough voltage to start the unit effeciently on
the 12 volt system, and run it on "high" when turning it off.
They are also good for heating the cabins of smaller boats. The current draw
is very low, they are quiet and safe: all exhaust is forced draft.
The only disadvantage is that the left burner will always be hotter than the
right. This is by design, so there is some juggling of pots. Marie does well
with ours, and she has a 6 burner commercial range at home...
They do have electronic circuit boards, and you do have to peroidically clean
them (there is a nice PDF on Maintance on the C brat site). I recommend the
Wallas stove.
