A/C First.

I had a stand alone A/C unit that had the exhaust through the window. It is a
nonsense product. Here is the problem. The hot air exhausts through the
window, but the make up air comes from outside. So you are cooling the inside air,
exhausting some of it, and replacing it 1:1 with new, hot, humid outside air.
Some have an intake and exhaust hose, that makes sense. Also, someone makes a
"suitcase" A/C unit that has you throw a double hose overboard. The hose has a
centrifugal pump on the intake, and the other hose returns the heated water
to the sea. That one works well. Basically, water coled condenser.

Diesel treatment:

This one basically leaves me wanting. I was an engineer in my pre retirement
life, and for a few years while readying my boat for the loop worked PT at
West Marine. While I was there, they introduced the blue stuff, Solatron or
Startron, same thing. I called the development engineers from both companies, and
they convinced me they were selling snake oil. They never answered on question
any way but with a rhetorical question. Really, really, pissed me off.
However, I had my tanks cleaned really professionally, so I decided to try the stuff
myself. Well, so far, absolutely no touble at all. I have 950 hours on my new
engine and cleaned tanks, and I use 2 micron Racors, and I have change one
filter once, because it was 2 years old. Showed 0 on the vaccum gages. There was
a coating of black soot like stuff, but no vacuum reading. Recently, I did a
pretty general service on he engine and filters, and decided to change fuel
filters. I removed it, not a drop of anything on it, so I put it back. I may be
the luckiest guy in the world, but I have purchased fuel in at least 20
different locations now, and one would think some of it was bad. I have talked with
other Startron users, and they report similar results. Still, the corporate
engineers were unable or unwilling to give me one single piece of test data or
other scientific evidence. So there you are. They did say the two products are
identical, and are made up of 95 % paint thinner ( or equivalent) and 5% enzyme
extracted from seaweed. Go figgure
