Rode is intended to lower the angle of pull on the anchor, and a good amount
of scope is the best way to do this. However, there is little point in
deploying more scope past a particular ratio.

In practice there is hardly any benefit in anything above 8:1 (remember, do
count the distance to the roller - not just the water depth, especially on
those high freeboard trawlers).
