I have had some challenges getting this posting out so it is not quite as
current as I would like...however

The discussion re:Pure/MSW inverters is interesting but all my gear runs
fine on what I have.
But WAIT!! All doesn't run fine!
When we cook breakfast before weighing anchor I leave the generator on while
(lets see, how many recent topics can I touch..) I use my Ideal windless to
pull up my 5:1 chain and swivel connected 45# Delta. (while disengageing the
snubbers - a sofar neglected topic).
My inverter/charger (Trace) is so 'smart' that it draws 'juice' from
availiable AC sources before drawing it from the house-bank (has a transfer
switch), ie. draws AC from the generator.
Let me tell you, there is nothing more exciting than having the nav.
computer and/or monitor or both reset while navigating a complicated path
because you said 'Yes dear, turn off the Gen'.
As mentioned last week/year, I tried a UPS. It couldn't take the inverted
power from the Trace.
There are lots of ways to handle this, some expensive, others simple (like,
DUH, turn off the Gen before you start - but no, the saltwater washdown
pump is an AC shallow well jet pump, another recent topic), but that's not
the techie way!!!
So, my question is:
What kind of device (cheap) can ride through a 1-5 cycle AC outage?
BTW, yesterday we had a great sailboat race on Lake Travis outside of
Austin. cloudless sky, 50 deg, 15 kts., good competitive racing with 45
boats out.
