T&T: Keep Naked Politics OFF My Trawler List

Shame, Shame on you List 
Administrators/Modulators/Moderators/Geeks/Content Cops!  How did you 
let this piece get by?   Spankings all around!

Now, don't get me wrong.  I am as far Left of the political Center as 
Rob is to the Right.  I cherish deeply my right to speak freely in our 
society, and will vigorously oppose any and all efforts to diminish that 
in the least.  I do fault the list administration for passing a message 
that is completely lacking in 'trawler' content.  There are no words in 
it even remotely relating to any boating issue, and the clear intent of 
the message is only to express a singular political view. 

I only blame Rob for not recognizing the inappropriate lack of boating 
content in his post.  He has been on this list a long time, made 
countless valuable contributions to the list, but he has doubtless also 
seen lots of admonishions from the Content Cops about keeping the 
postings true to our decided theme, and making purely political 
statements elsewhere.  Heck, everybody messes up now and again.  I will 
defend his right to hold his political views with precisely the same 
vigor I would (and do) use to defend my own, for diminishing the right 
to free speach for anyone, regardless of their content, is a 
diminishment of my own dearly held rights.  I also very much enjoy a 
candid and respectful exchange of views on lots of subjects, politics 
among them, and would very much enjoy and exchange with Rob, or any 
others on this or similar matters.  I do insist on the proper venue 
however.   Never here. 

This harangue is all the punishment I will offer to the list 
administration.  This time.  Should this sort of thing continue however, 
I will lead the exodus of list members.

PS, I get the digest, and just now came upon this posting.  I haven't 
even read any of the subsequent postings.  I expect that the streaming 
method subscribers have already commented on this issue.  I hope they 
kept the discussion civil, and am not ashamed to add my particular 
message to the common flow.

1. As Congress reconvened, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) walked
into a trap. He permitted anti-war Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) to bring up two
Iraq troop-withdrawal amendments to the Defense bill, assuming Republicans
would filibuster by blocking cloture. But Senate Republican Leader Mitch
McConnell (Ky.) did the opposite, forcing an unwanted war debate and sending
Reid's Senate schedule into chaos. (How delicious!!!!....another failed and
useless debate for the Dem leadership.)

2. The lack of liquidity in the economy is a menace that could implode the
economy and create a Democratic electoral landslide. Financial sources see the
stimulus bill and actions by the Federal Reserve and the Treasury as
unresponsive and ineffective.
(Stimulus package is too little and misdirected; Fed has been too slow with
rate cuts nut at least is paying attention now.)

(I think congress should do more sport steroid inquiries!!!! Keep them out of
people's lives.....)
