If a broker or an owner has the boat it starts with a phone call, get a feel
for the people your dealing with talk about the boat and find out everything
you can about it. After you hang up think about it, decide how much you'll
offer and then if it's a broker you'll give them a check for 10% held till
the offer is accepted. If an owner he may or may not take a check it's up to
him although I would. All offer may have terms (i should say must) first
being subject to a sea trial, survey, and financing (if required). If the
sea trial and survey reveal anything you don't like you may offer to take
the boat at a lower price or walk if you so desire. Your check should be
returned, although all costs involved with either the survey, pulling the
boat etc. are on you. Nevr fall in love with the boat until you're finished
with all the prelimenary stuff. You can't let your heart get in the way of
your brain. I'm in the middle of buying privately (Krogen Manatee) and
selling my 43 hatt so if you have any question you can email me privately
if you so desire. Bill
