T&T: Kahlenberg K-380 followup

Well, not only that, In November I sent a 50 year old triple-horn with
bracket to Kahlenberg to be refinished and re-diaphrammed....came back in an
industrial crate, gleaming like they were brand new. Can't wait til spring
when I can hook them up...for now, if they fit, I'd put them on my mantle.
It was a bit costly, but hey, what floats on water that isn't?

Btw, the original kahlenberg steel wheel is still on the prop shaft, while
the original Kahlenberg engine was relegated to the maritime museum in Sault
Ste Marie, Ont where it is slowly deteriorating, I hear, from need of
attention....we were able to halve the engine room and build a master cabin
in the re-claimed half.

Kahlenberg has always been a pleasure to deal with.

Another similar endorsement, for I just had my 50 year-old windlass
renovated, is for Ideal Windlass...they handled everything just about as
smoothly as I could imagine.

Service 50 years after the sale! Who says things are going down hill?

Subject: T&T: Kahlenberg K-380 followup

I wanted to follow up on the post I made regarding my recent install of
new K-380 air horns. I was quite impressed with the quality of the
product, Kahlenberg Bros' reputation is well-earned. I was disappointed
with the performance, but that was not a reflection of the product as
much as it was a dissatisfaction with my choice of model.

I sent a note to Kahlenberg to that effect, more as feedback for the new
product line, not as a complaint, since the selection was my choice. I
received a personal phone call about my note, and an offer of an
exchange that I did not anticipate since I did not directly request it.
I simply asked if there might be an option for an upgrade, given that
they delivered exactly what I asked for.

I can't say enough about this kind of response, and felt that it is
worthy of a note here. No wonder that Kahlenberg's have the reputation
they do. I've known for some time that if you're going to install a
decent set of air horns, there is only one to consider if quality and
reliability is what you're after. Now I'm a disciple!
