How much current are you using from this 36 volt battery bank? The
charger must be capable of delivering somewhat more current than the
average draw on your 36 volt system.
If you are not normally drawing significant current, a 16 amp charger
should recharge that bank from "dead" in under 18 hours.
I suspect that your problem is that your average current draw is 16
amps or more, and not that "battery chargers have not kept up with
battery technology"
