They make a dual motion detector that utilizes both motion and infrared 
technologies. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. These dual 
alarms only go into alarm if both sensors are activated together making 
them much less prone to false alarms.

At 06:49 AM 12/20/2008 -0800,  First, you only want true IR and not motion 
detectors to eliminate false alarms. Even these go off if a large bird 
perches on the boat or when the sun comes up and hits it.
