Thanks to all that replied. The short answer to my question came
from CHS and is NO. I was trying to see if there was a way to
download (for $$) specific Canadian BSB or S-57 charts. Naturally,
charts are available on CDs from CHS. These are upgradeable for one
year after purchase. Since my CDs are at least seven years old, I'm
out of upgrade range.
All this came about cause I was entering NTM data into the boat
computer, Makes for an interesting project as some of the paper
charts in Northern BC are still formated using NAD 27 (the NTM do
list the datum and apparently apply to paper only) while the CDs are
formated using NAD 83. Thus, you enter a point into the computer
which thinks it is NAD 83. Now you've got to make a correction but
how much, hmmm. Hope that rock I just entered is close to shore &
not in the middle of the channel as plotted. So far, I have been
unable to figure out a way to over ride the CDs datum. for example if
I could tell the program (CE) that the datum is NAD 27, then I could
enter the NTMs and during actual use (If I remember) go back to NAD
83 and let the program make the correction.
CHS is slowly converting some of the paper charts from NAD 27 to NAD
83 as well as dropping fathoms for meters. I think all this is just
to keep our brains pumped up and not let them dumb down by letting
the computer drive the boat while we watch "Days of Our Lives" on TV
or debate pin points. 1 or 2, or how many valves, etc.
Cheers, got to go, program just came on.
