T&T: Sunlight viewable monitors

I have used a laptop for 8 years. This is in an enclosed pilothouse of a
Krogen 42. The laptop screen, even using AC power is unsatisfactory many
times. I have instead used a 15" monitor - cheap ones work fine. This is a
substantial improvement. However when the light is coming from a certain
direction the screen is not visible.
I bought 2 years ago a sunlight viewable monitor ($1,000), an Argonaut, for
use on the upper helm. It makes such a difference that I now use it as my
main screen, using the old monitor in the helm only when I have the Argonaut
up on the upper helm.
Like all things on a boat there are tradeoffs, but if you have ac power a
regular 15" monitor will work inside the boat in most conditions.
