T&T: Blackberry 'Storm' Phone

You need the java application to bring up the keyboard when requested.....like
to "tap" an area where an input is needed....like a password. You tap it, the
keyboard then pops up. Without java, you would be tapping all day and nothing
would happen. I only know this because I am a Sprint Instinct user and it
took us months to get java support on our phone.
Anyway, I do know Navionics has a chartplotter application for the iPhone and
they claim to be working to support other phones. Hopefully the Storm and
Instinct are next. It would be a cool backup or good when you are someone
else's boat that is a little less equipped.

I just converted to the Blackberry Storm over the weekend. So far, I really
like the unit. The touchscreen keyboard was surprisingly easy to use and the
screen is very sharp. The GPS unit worked well over the weekend, even
suggesting we exit the highway to avoid an accident that was on the overpass.
Only issue seems to be a little latency in some of the applications, most
likely
due to the issue Jeff mentioned in his message.
After 10+ years as a Palm user, I found the switch fairly easy. I'm still
looking for the stylus on the Storm, but I'm sure I'll find it.

The Storm is the first Blackberry based solely around "touch". I
most
certainly was created in response to the Apple iPhone. The hardware looks
pretty good although I haven't held one yet.
