Our Monk 36 (135 Perkins) at 7.5 kts and 2.5 gal/hr got 3nm/gal. If fuel
averages $3/gal, it cost $1/nm for fuel.

With these numbers, a 1400 nm run therefore would cost $1400 for fuel. If
your boat is half as efficient as a Monk 36, you might expect to pay $3000.
Still a lot less than $8000.

Besides, who wants to sit at the helm while the boat is being hauled down
the Interstate on a truck. On the water is better.
