T&T: AIS Class B status

Commercial vessels can program their Class "A" AIS units to ignore vessels
less than "X" feet or meters in length. I have no clue as to the legality of
doing this, especially in VTS-controlled waters, but it is a complaint made
by British yachts operating in the English Channel. I believe that the
rationale of ship masters is that they are overloaded with big ship tracks
and AIS info and don't want more clutter. Again I do not know if this is
legal or wise.
