T&T: ANchor windlass quesstion

I had some thing similar on my bow thruster which is wired similar to a  
windlass. couldn't find a fault in the solenoids, switches,  finally ran  battery 
cables direct to the motor lugs still no good. Brought the motor to a  shop 
they found the comutator ring was glazed/dirty they polished it with emery  
cloth and it was fine.
