I'm not
interested in the integrated, network based units.

We replaced our dying Raytheon 2600 with a Furuno NavNet VX2 last
year. We got the 7" model because the 10" model would not quite fit
on our retractable overhead mount at the lower helm station. NavNet
VX2 is a radar and (with the appropriate receivers, sensors, etc.) a
GPS chart plotter and a depth sounder/fish finder. We elected to get
the C-Map GPS plotter but we did not get the depth finder options.

To say we are happy with the unit would be an understatement. When
it's foggy up here we boat in the fog. The radar has ranges down to
0.125 miles, very handy in our maze of islands and channels up here
(the minimum range display of the old Raytheon was 1.5 miles). The
Furuno's daylight display is very bright. The plotter function is
user-friendly and intuitive to use. We got the 24" radome, but the
unit is available with a larger open array antenna, too.
