There are two types, energized to run and energized to stop. Most marine are
energized to stop. The dealer can tell you which one he sold you. I'm
traveling but will check when I get home tonight if no one else helps you
today. There is a part number on the one you removed somewhere so if you
still have it try and see if you can find under the paint. This part usually
also has a shorting diode that often is the source of failure. That diode is
seen as a small wire with a shield on it connected between the two leads.
Sometime along the way that diode was made internal so yours may or may not
have it.

Subject: T&T: 3208 CAT Part # needed

I need a part # and source
for a fuel shutoff solenoid on my CAT 3208 TA,
375hp. The solenoid has a
rubber cap on top with a visible plunger that pops
up when starting and goes
down when the engine is shut off. The CAT
distributor in Milwaukee sold me a
replacement solenoid (#6N9988) that is
fully enclosed but does not work the
way I wired it. I wired it the same as
the old with wires going to the 2
contacts and a jumper in between.

I know this is not the most coherent post
but I hope it shows what I need.

Any help on part 3 or wiring will be
appreciated. Thanks in advance.
