T&T: Cape May to NY

How much does your boat draw? It can be real tricky to run inside in NJ.
Lots of low spots, poor markings and meandering bars. Better to stay
outside in my opinion. I've made it from Cape May to Manasquan in one
run cruising at 7.5knots. About 8 hours. Then from Manasquan to Liberty
Marina next day.
Unless there is a decent breeze from the East piling up water on the
inside bays, your gonna see shallow water in spots.

We're planning to head from the Chesapeake to the Hudson.

I believe the itinerary may have been covered before, but looking for
suggestions.

Plan to head to from Chesapeake City to Cape May 1st leg, have done this
leg many times before.
Cape May to Barnegat good choice for 2nd leg?

I seem to recall an itinerary of Cape May to Egg Harbor, Manasquan, then
Sandy Hook.

We're not planning to run inside.
