The classic polishing compound of choice for glass is Cerium Oxide. The
particle size is well controlled to avoid large, abrasive chunks that
one can sometimes find in conventional buffing compounts. Also, the
hardness of cerium oxide is close to that of glass itself so that
buffing results in a very smooth surface.

It is available from JC Whitney, CarParts.com and other sources. Costs
about $15 for a small quantity - enough to last a lifetime. The usual
instruction is to mix two parts powder with one part water to make a
paste. Use a high speed buffing wheel and patience. This will work
great on spots or some windshield wiper 'haze' but is no help for deep
scratches.

Elbow grease is not included!
