T&T: Cleaning Spotted Glass Panels with Rubbing Compound

Since I bought my old 1985 Mainship some six plus years ago, I've been
bothered by spotting/streaking that was on the glass of the sliding doors to
the salon. I had tried everything - including Windex, ammonia, vinegar,
razor blade scraping, Soft Scrub and scouring powder - all to no avail.
Then, someone on the list recommended using rubbing compound for cleaning
stains on glass.

The staining on the glass looked like it had came from rain, in that the
stains were both vertical streaks that looked like drip marks, but also
included spots where drops may have stood. I wondered if this could this be
caused by acid rain?

After all else failed, last week I tried the rubbing compound that a listee
had recommended, and I was amazed to see that the glass cleaned up
perfectly! After six years of not being able to get rid of the staining,
I've now got crystal clear glass panels again. I am now a happy camper! The
staining was pretty tenacious, and it took over five minutes work with the
power buffer and rubbing compound for each square foot of glass, but the
effort was well worth it. The glass now looks brand new and crystal clear
again.

To whoever had posted the original recommendation to use rubbing compound on
glass several months ago - my thanks.
