Hi All,

A rotten subect, but I've got to face it..... All the rub rails on my Bristol 42' are totally rotten. I noticed early on that when it rained, I would see brown water coming from the under the rub rails. Close examination revealed that the wood under the hard paint was a soggy, rotten mess. How could the surveyor have missed this one??? Anyway, the time has come to start thinking about replacing them. They are bolted from the inside of the boat, with most of the fasteners inaccesible. First, has anyone had to replace wooden rub rails and what materials were used for the replacement. What are the possible ways to attach to the fiberglass hull and what materials could be used? It's not something that I would do myself, so have to start getting 'edumacated' on the subject.

In advance, thanks for your input on this rotten subject.
