T&T: watermakers

We've been pleased by the performance of the Aquamarine 40 GPH watermaker.
Installed it a year ago and while tied up to a dock-- ours or someone else's--
we'd make water twice a month. The drill was to run one tank very low and then
fill it with RO water to insure we flushed the membranes with non-chlorinated
water. Then back to city water for another two weeks. The two flow meters are
always within a GPH or two of each other so both membranes must be in near
identical condition.

Question. What is the normal service life of a membrane? Am I doing anything
deleterious to the membrane by exercising it twice a month?
