Stephen,
A 'normal' LCD computer monitor should do fine in your pilot house.
I think you would want one with as high a Brightness and as high a contrast
ration as reasonable but that covers a wide range.
Look at the Samsung site below and you can compare whatever size you want.
Any of the 17" have acceptable B&C numbers (according to me).

Note the power requirements.
It looks like the 743bx goes for around $240
