T&T: Anchor kellets

Larry, your treatise is superb.
But, I have no experience with a chain-rope rode.
All of it has been all chain experience.
I typically anchor (overnight) with a 7:1 scope of all chain. My last
boat had an 88 lb delta with a 5/16" chain. (My last boat was an 36'
express cruiser, relatively heavy)
After anchoring, and verifying set, I would get a (already specified
length of) nylon braided line (not the 3 twisted braid which I
understand is better, but...) and using a hook, attached the hook to
the chain, the braid's bitter end to a cleat, and let out more chain
until the line had the strain and there was a catenary in the chain.
The hook was never in the water.
I never dragged with this arrangement but I never tested it above 50
kts wind speed
So, I wonder if adding a kellet can help.
Over here, (Turkey) I really do not see much thought given to
anchoring by the locals, even those that go to sea a lot. Foreigns
yes. Locals no. Locals use fisherman anchors of whatever size they
seem to be able to afford, regardless of the size of the boat. They
always seems to be just a bit too small. Then, the chain is usually
whatever they can scrounge around, and similarly, the line.
In overnight anchorages that are mixed local and foreigners, as long
as no one drags, the nights are quiet.
But if the wind picks up, or the sea shifts, the resulting commotion
can add a lot to the comedy unfolding.

Anchoring 101 - About kellets.
Anchor kellets are weights suspended from an anchor rode to assist in
the
anchoring process. In theory both chain and nylon rodes, or any
combination of
the two, are special cases of a hypothetical general anchoring system
which
consists of a weightless, unstretchable line connecting the anchor
and the boat
with a single concentrated weight, representing the underwater weight
of the
rode, hung somewhere along its length.[...]
