T&T: recording Chris Parker Weather

Getting ready for another trip to Bahamas.
Last year I added XM Marine Weather, great addition, works throughout Bahamas,
at least as far south as Georgetown, Exuma. I would recommend this weather
service. Not cheap (the modem cost about $600, and $50 per month
subscription), but well worth it.
Still, I like to listen to Chris Parker on HF SSB. Chris provides definite
added value.
Unfortunately, he starts his broadcast at 6:30 AM (or a few minutes later).
Unless I have a need, don't like to get out of bed this early. Hey, this is a
vacation.
I am trying to find some method of recording his forecast for later
listening.
I need a recorder that will plug into the ear-phone jack, (battery or 12 volt
DC powered) either with a built-in timer; or a external timer to turn on the
recorder, again battery or 12 volt DC powered.
Voice activation would not work, since the designated channel could have other
traffic or noise before Chris starts his broadcast.
Any ideas? I have checked various electronic supply catalogs, can't find a
practical solution.
Thanks for any suggestion
