'Lo Pascal and all,
>as usual, there is no black or white answer, it depends on the boat and
>location.... when in Rome, do like the Romans
I used to enjoy being on our old sailboat, in the heat of summer,
"cooking" from the sun's direct as well as reflected rays from those
huge sails and waves. I went "sail fishing" (trolling while sailing),
almost every day all year long, weather permitting.
In 1995, both my wife and I had or came close to having full blown
heat strokes while on the sailboat, heading to the Dry Tortugas. The
physiological changes were instantaneous, dramatic and permanent.
Now, neither of us can tolerate heat as we used to. We sold the
sailboat because we would quickly get nauseated from the heat and
found we have to virtually hibernate in the house in the summer.
We bought the Celestial because it is air conditioned and has a lower
helm. We still can't go out into the summer's heat for long, but at
least we can enjoy the boat in air conditioned comfort.
SO....for us there was/is a black or white answer - we have to have
air conditioning!
Take care and be safe.
