I have no idea why the abbreviation for Grand Banks 42 was turned into
"GAB" in my post.  But I hadn't read the original post carefully enough
to see that the question was about the production history of the Krogen
42, not the Grand Banks 42.  Sorry......

As to the question of running higher horsepower engines at the slower
end of the power range, a friend with a lobsterboat and a 420 hp,
turbocharged Cat used to run his boat at about 14-15 knots.  Since
diesel prices went up, he's been running at about 8.5 knots.  The engine
seems to do okay with this, but he's been told by our diesel shop to run
the engine at the more normal, higher cruising rpm for fifteen minutes
or so every couple of hours.  So far, so good.
