Ron,
As I've used my USB720 I've seen the Dormant state many times, but not been
disconnected. In my networking experience I'd expect that dormant is simply
a valid client state that signifies an active connection, but no current
load or traffic. It's very different from Disconnected, the state that
requires a reconnection. Are you sure you need to reconnect? In my
experience when seeing the Dormant state all I have to do is click
Send/Receive on my outlook client and the session is reestablished within a
second or two.
By the way, talk about a service that FAR exceeded my expectations, the EVDO
service from Verizon is nothing short of spectacular. I'm a 20 veteran of
computer networking and my experience is they have built a really great
service. To have a connection 80% of the way down the West Coast has been
fantastic. I can count the number of times over the last week that I
couldn't get my email on two hands. A simply wonderful capability. I only
wish I could get some connectivity in Mexico so I don't have to use my Fleet
33 at $4/Mb. Thanks, scott
