T&T: Speech intelligibility

'Lo All,

In another lifetime, I was a translator as well as an aircraft pilot
(and other things). I can categorically state that the female voice
is generally more easily understood via any radio than a male's voice
- whether am, fm or any other form of modulation and whether
listening via headphones or a speaker. Also, as a generalization,
women tend to pronounce words, complete with all syllables, more clearly.

There are exceptions, of course. A properly trained radio operator -
male or female - will be, in general, more intelligible than any
untrained/poorly trained person.

Take care and be safe.
