Be sure both sides are of the same wood when you do a trial stain. 
Usually, teak is on one side and cheap luan is on the other, unless 
it has teak on both sides for a reason. Teak and luan do not stain 
the same. Even different pieces of teak can stain differently. 
Sometimes, one has to sand and re-stain the entire piece, same as one 
often has to do on a car fender to make it look right.
