T&T: Conversion to Fully Synthetic Oil for 1979 Engine and Gen Set

Chris,
I switched my 80hp 1997 John Deere from Shell Rotella-T to Rotella Synthetic
about 6 years ago.  I've always changed oil at about 200 hours, synthetic or
regular, as specified by John Deere.  You probably won't notice any
difference in the engine with the synthetic, but it can't hurt the engine to
use a better, longer-lasting oil.  I get it at Walmart; most all the stores
now carry the synthetic 5w40 as well as the regular Rotella-T 15w40.
